» What is industrial engineering?

The scientific program of industrial engineering combines mathematical and scientific, business and economic, legal and technical disciplines together and prepares for the future career of the industrial engineer. Thus, the students of this department to specialists who have technical skills and are also trained to be economically as well as economically.

There are different ways to go through this study: either simultaneously studying Engineering (rare natural sciences or computer science), economics (simultaneous study), or you completed following a typically engineering degree, a postgraduate or postgraduate studies, the economics and partly contains more technical subjects. Even a technically oriented graduate studies following an economics degree is occasionally possible.

» Studying industrial engineering

In general, the student decides at the beginning of his studies for a particular field of study that primarily determined the engineering trade. For example, he then studied industrial engineering/mechanical engineering or industrial engineering/electrical engineering. Note: The courses offered in Germany can differ greatly, depending on which research activities, professors and university, college, or university-related priorities have influence on the course of study. So you are well informed which direction you are particularly interested.
The industrial engineering are offered at universities and colleges.

» Studies at Universities:

Standard period of study and degrees 9 to 10 semester during diploma, 6 or 7 semesters for Bachelor. A master's degree building upon it is reasonable and possible.
In the basic studies students learn mathematics, natural science and engineering fundamentals of the chosen direction and engineering basics of economics, law and statistics, data processing and computer science. The extension and deepening of both areas is in the main study in the foreground. Aspiring industrial engineers must know for every 3 months before or while studying the technical and commercial practice.

» Study at colleges:

Standard period of study and degrees: 8 semesters including one or two practical semesters in diploma, bachelor degree in 6 semesters. A master's degree building upon it is reasonable and possible.

Basic Studies: The focus are the mathematical and technical-scientific subjects. Addition, there are basics of economics and business administration as well as the Law on the timetable. The main course includes not only the technical study economics subjects such as accounting, business organization, Human and Industrial Statistics. There is much emphasis placed on practical experience: a pre-study internship of several weeks in the commercial or technical fields must be completed. In addition, more practical phases of varying duration are planned during the study.

» The professional fields of economic engineering

Since they have both technical as well as a well-diversified scientific know-how, working industrial engineers and engineering inside in almost all technical and economic functional areas such as sales and marketing, logistics and materials management, production and manufacturing, building management, quality assurance and in finance and accounting. Especially in a large production of all industries they find employment opportunities. But also commercial establishments and business consulting firm as well as larger transport companies offer jobs. The industry in which they can operate the respective engineering discipline determines to a large extent.
