EARTH UNIVERSITY

EARTH was founded in 1986 by an Act of the Government of the Republic of Costa Rica as a private international institution , non-profit and was created with the support of the Government of Costa Rica , the United States Agency for International Development ( USAID) Foundation and the WK Kellogg .

Since 1990, innovative educational model of EARTH University has prepared young people in Latin America, the Caribbean and other regions, including Africa and Asia, to contribute to sustainable development of their countries and build prosperous and just societies. EARTH offers a rigorous four-year undergraduate in agricultural sciences and natural resources management , led by a prestigious international faculty that provides a solid education with scientific and technical basis which emphasizes ethical values , entrepreneurship and environmental and social commitment.

CURRICULUM AND TEACHING PROCESS

The curriculum is based EARTH University in four training areas that prepare students with the skills required to meet the needs of today's world . These are :

• Scientific and Technical Knowledge: ensures that graduates of EARTH have the knowledge to implement sustainable agriculture and proper management of natural resources .
• Personal development , attitudes and values: developing awareness, empathy , respect, tolerance , teamwork , effective communication and teachings throughout life will help promote peace , dialogue and understanding.
• Business Ethics: stimulates entrepreneurship students to enable them proactively , generate opportunities and solutions to problems. Students build and implement a business from start to finish during the first three years of study at EARTH , achieving a comprehensive understanding about what it takes to start a business .
• Commitment and social and environmental consciousness : how students with social and environmental responsibility and awareness, enhancing their skills to promote positive change.
• The teaching and learning process of EARTH University is dynamic and participatory , where teachers are facilitators of knowledge. Our approach to the student is based on two principles:
• student-centered learning : students , individually or in groups, explores the challenges of everyday life and turns them into real opportunities to generate knowledge , as opposed to just be a passive recipient of information.
   
• Experiential learning : students learn through a variety of experiences designed to encourage learning and also allow you to build knowledge and develop skills that can be practiced while learning .

ADMISSIONS , SCHOLARSHIPS AND FINANCIAL AID

It is almost the end of the process where in October socioeconomic studies of young people who are still part of our process that determines the need for each applicant are performed. This information along with the availability of financial aid more comprehensive evaluation of the admission process of the young , is what will define the admission of the applicant and the condition of entry , ie if a full or partial scholarship ( all young people are supported )

The deadline for receipt of applications is June 1, 2014 , all documentation must be emailed to the address : admisiones@earth.ac.cr

STEP 1

We want to know who you are : your name , your age and how to contact you. Please fill the " Application Form " ( see attachment)

STEP 2

Share with us your academic record . Upload copies of your grades for the last three years of high school and college if applicable.

STEP 3

Tell three people to help us know you better. Select three people who know you well (not family members) and ask them to complete the " Recommendation Form " ( see attachment) -2013 ) . Please note that we only accept recommendations in this format.

STEP 4

We want to know how you look to recognize you when you arrive. Take two passport photos or scans one yourself . And do not forget to smile.

STEP 5

Send all documentation (request , copy of your grades three completed recommendation forms and passport photo ) before June 1, 2014 via email to : admisiones@earth.ac.cr
